The City of Gainesville Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs is pleased to announce the opening of the Images of the Thomas Center: Through the Eyes of Millhopper Montessori Elementary/Middle School Photography Camp art exhibition, which is scheduled to run through May 17, 2009 in the Thomas Center Mezzanine Gallery. A free public reception will be held Thursday, April 23 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Center. The exhibition includes a selection of 29 photographs that were created by Millhopper Montessori School art students.
The Millhopper Montessori School Elementary/Middle School Photography Camp exhibits a lesson in perspective, color and landscape. In Images of the Thomas Center, the students were asked to capture distinctive images of the Thomas Center though the camera’s eye and tell a story of shapes, landscape, color and history. The photographs depict subjects that the students found to be unique, ranging from a delicate fallen flower to a face in the water fountain to a shining light through a tree. In Portrait of a Sunflower/in the Pink, the students were asked to capture color in nature at the Millhopper Montessori School campus. |
