10th Annual Regional Juried Exhibition

The City of Gainesville Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs announce the opening of the 10th Annual Regional Juried Exhibition, which will run from July 17 – September 12, 2010 in the Thomas Center Main Gallery. A free public exhibition reception will be held Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 5 – 7 p.m. Awards will be presented at 6 p.m.

The exhibition includes 43 works of art in a variety of media. The selected Florida artists include: : Anthony Ackrill, Steve Auer, Hope Barton, Carol H. Barber, Linda J. Bean, Becky Beerensson, Herbert L. Bressack, Doug Bringle, Jim Carpenter, Mindy Z. Colton, Carol Drummond, Lois Ferguson, Virginia Ferrara, Anne E. Gilroy, Angela Hoppe,  Sandra J. Hadley, Steven Huss, Dillon Wayne Hunt, Iris Jubefin, Susan C. Johnson, Grace Leal, Mira Lehr,  Jiri Lonsky, Nancy Gralla Mason, Susan E. McFall, Nancy J. Moore, Nancy Moskovitz, Sandra de Nijs, Miriam Novack, Sara Nash, Raymond Olivero, Melanie Peter, Sherrie Pettigrew, Colleen Rand, Karen F. Rose, Anne Seraphine, Sharon Snavely, Lisa Stevens, Barbara Thomas, Ginnie Ungewitter, and Jack Wicks.

This year’s juror, David Fithian is the Exhibition Coordinator at the Museum of Florida Art in DeLand, FL and was the owner of Fithian Studios Fine Art Gallery in Deland, FL. He attended the Art Students League of New York, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and was also the head of the graphics department at Drexel University. David is experienced in photography, graphics and painting and has received various awards and judging invitations. David has an extensive teaching background, specializing in photography and watercolor, at the Crealdé School of Art in Winter Park, FL and Maitland Art Center in Maitland, FL. His works have been featured within various publications and numerous solo art exhibitions at institutions such as: Peabody Auditorium, Daytona Beach, FL; Art Space at SWA Architects, New Smyrna Beach, FL; Maitland Art Center, Maitland, FL; University of South Dakota,Vermillion, SD; and Painted Bride Gallery, Philadelphia, PA

The Thomas Center Galleries are located at 302 NE 6th Ave. Gainesville, FL 32601. Gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday through Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Tuesday from 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM and Saturday from 1:00 - 4:00 PM. The galleries are closed Sundays and for observed holidays.
